Chantale Yok-Min Wong


Ms. Chantale Yok-Min Wong is an environmental policy professional with over 20 years of experience. She is currently the Assistant Director for Performance Budgeting for the U.S. Department of the Treasury where she helps to formulate the $11.6 billion budget for the Department, including the budget of the Internal Revenue Service. She has served as a consultant for various number of projects for several international organizations, including the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, Inter American Development Bank. Ms. Wong was a member of the Board of Directors of the Asian Development Bank, where she has represented the United States as the Acting Executive Director since October 2000. She was the Alternate Executive Director since 1999. Prior to joining ADB, Ms. Wong was the Chief of Staff to Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Alice Rivlin, where she served as the focal point for policies and budget initiatives during the crucial budget debates of 1995 to 1996. She has also served as advisor to the U.S. Secretary of the Interior, Chief of Staff to the Deputy Secretary and Special Assistant to the Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. From 1996 to 1997, Ms. Wong served as the Director's Assistant to the U.S. Executive Director at the World Bank Group. Her public service as a presidential appointee made her one of the highest ranking Asian Americans during the Clinton Administration.

Ms Wong began her career a structural engineer. At the Boeing Airplane Co. she was on the design team for the Boeing 757 and 767, and she also designed petrochemical plants for Saudia Arabia as an employee of Bechtel Petroleum Inc. Additionally, Ms. Wong has also designed and operated water and sanitation facilities for the city and county of San Francisco, California.

Ms. Wong holds a Masters in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University where she was granted a Lucius N. Littauer Fellowship for academic excellence and a Women's Leadership Fellowship for scholarship. She also earned a Masters of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Hawaii, Manoa. She is a licensed professional engineer in the State of California and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and author of numerous articles and publications.
