Li
James M. Li retired from American Express in 2002 and is now CEO
of JML Partners, LLC.
Previously, he had been with American Express since 1979, where
he served in a wide range of leadership positions culminating in
his being named Executive Vice President.
Mr. Li joined as Vice President, Staff Operations for the Card
Division. After several promotions, he was made President and General
Manager for American Express Travel Related Services Company, Inc,
Asia/Pacific/Australia Division in 1985, and was responsible for
the overall card, travel, and travelers cheques activities. In
May 1990, he was appointed Executive Vice President, Chief Quality
and Credit Officer. His last position was Executive Vice President
- Global Six Sigma Performance.
Prior to that, Mr. Li had six years’ experience at Citibank.
N.A., where he held the position of Vice President, Central Operations,
New York Banking Division, Consumer Services Group.
Mr. Li has served as Chairman of the Public Education Association
of New York City, and is Chairman of the Hong Kong Association
of New York, as well as the Chairman of the Middle East Mediterranean
Travel and Tourism Association. Mr. Li serves on the boards of
the US-China Chamber of Commerce, the Junior Achievement International,
and Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth. Mr. Li
is a fellow of the Foreign Policy Association and a member of the
Engineering Council of Columbia University.
Mr. Li holds a Bachelor of Science (1968), a Masters of Science
(1970), and a Professional Degree (1974) in Industrial Engineering,
from Columbia University.
