Carter Tseng
Dr. Carter Tseng has over 25 years of commercial leadership
experience in the highly competitive information and communication
industries. Dr. Tseng was a co-founder of Microtek, the world
class leader in the image scanner industry, one of the first
and most successful IPO companies based in Taiwan’s highly
prestigious Science Park. Since retiring as CEO, Dr. Tseng
has turned his attentions and experience to teaching and mentoring
the CEOs of tomorrow, plus serving on the advisory boards of
many large companies.
Prior to returning to Taiwan in 1980, Dr. Tseng spent over
10 years in US based companies such as Lockheed, Xerox, and
NRL, where he held increasingly responsible positions in such
areas as system design, technical marketing and high-tech enterprise
management. As a skillful negotiator, Dr. Tseng has used his
skills and entrepreneurial talents to secure many highly lucrative
OEM, ODM, and distribution contracts with large globally recognized
concerns such as Siemens, Philips, Hitachi, GEC, Data I/O,
Panasonic, Rockwell, and NEC, to name but a few.
After graduating with a B.Sc. in electrical engineering from
National Taiwan University in 1970, Dr. Tseng went on to earn
Masters and Doctoral degrees in computer science and electronics
engineering from UCLA. Dr. Tseng holds patents, one of which
is the Keyboardless Input Method, and has been active in publications.
Presently, in addition to his responsibilities as founder & CEO
of the Little Dragon Foundation, whose mission is to guide
entrepreneurs of tomorrow, Dr. Tseng also holds seats on the
boards of several high technology enterprises and educational
organizations. He serves as Vice Chairman of Arlotto and director
of AIPTEK and Arima.
Dr. Tseng is a member of the Committee of 100 and Co-founder
of ECO Foundation for the environment. Dr. Tseng is the special
advisor to the President of Tsing Hua University, and EMBA
Professor. He is also serving as a Business Advisory Council
(BAC) member for University of Alberta, Canada. His academic
posts include Adjunct Professorships at City University of
Hong Kong, University of Alberta (Canada), and CEO Training
Professor at Tsing Hua University. He is also a Co-founder
of Monte Jade Science & Technology Association (USA).
Dr Tseng received the “2004 Distinguished Achievement
Award” from the Chinese Institute of Engineers, USA (CIE),
in recognition “for pioneering work and leadership in
the high-tech industry, and contributions in education on industrial
management.”
Dr. Tseng is very happily married with one daughter at Stanford
University and presently divides his time between Beijing,
Taiwan and USA in order to fulfill his many global commitments.
