Lee S. Ting
Lee S. Ting is a former corporate vice president of Hewlett-Packard
Company, where he worked for more than thirty years. He joined
the company in 1965 as an R&D engineer and was promoted
subsequently through a number of general management positions
in both Asia and United States. Those included founder and
general manager of HP Taiwan, managing director of Southeast
Asia Manufacturing Operations, director of business development
for Intercontinental Operations, and vice president and managing
director of Asia Pacific. His last position was corporate vice
president and managing director of Worldwide Geographic Operations,
where he was responsible for the operations of the Hewlett-Packard’s
customer facing organizations in all the 100+ countries in
which the company maintained a direct presence.
In addition to his career at Hewlett-Packard, Lee was a senior
vice president with Hambrecht and Quist Company from 1989 to
1991, where he helped the firm with the expansion of its venture
capital business into Asia. His responsibilities included the
organization of venture capital funds and the establishing
of the fund management office in the region.
Lee is currently managing director of WR Hambrecht, an investment
bank based in San Francisco, and an advisor to WK Technologies,
a venture capital firm with operations in the United States,
China, and Taiwan. He is a board director of Lenovo Group,
a global IT products and services provider, and Microelectronics
Technology Inc, a global supplier of wireless communication
products.
Lee was born in China and raised and educated in Brazil. He
is fluent in English, Portuguese, and several Chinese dialects.
He obtained his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Oregon
State University in 1965. He is a graduate of the Stanford
Executive Program. |
