Weiming Lu
Weiming Lu, President of Lowertown Redevelopment Corporation
(LRC) since 1981, has earned international recognition for
his work in three American cities: St. Paul, Dallas, and Minneapolis.
Under his leadership, LRC has significantly helped the historic
Lowertown neighborhood of St. Paul, Minnesota evolve into a
unique "urban village" which has become a model for
cities all over the world. He is regularly sought as an advisor
to governments, foundations and private industry in urban design
and public-private partnerships both in the U.S. and internationally.
During his career, Lu has received many honors and awards,
including the Quadrennial Presidential Award for Design Excellence
in 1985, and the Honor Award from the National Trust for Historic
Preservation in 1995. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute
and an Honorary Member of The American Institute of Architects.
He has lectured extensively in the United States and around
the world, including at Harvard, MIT, UC Berkeley, Warsaw,
Waseda, Tsinghua, and the national Mayor's Institute for City
Design. He has been an active participant in many international
conferences and has been published in many international and
U.S. journals, cited in a number of books, some made into films,
and exhibited at museums. |
