
Anthony Sun
Anthony Sun is managing general partner and co-CEO of
Venrock Associates, a venture capital fund associated with
the Rockefeller Family office in New York. Venrock has
offices in New York, Menlo Park and Cambridge. He invests
primarily in the information technology industry with a
focus on the communications and Internet infrastructure
sectors.
Since joining Venrock in 1979, he has been instrumental
as a lead investor or board member in over two dozen companies
that have completed public offerings or successful mergers.
His previous experience was with Hewlett-Packard, TRW and
Caere Corporation. He currently sits on the boards of numerous
companies in the Venrock portfolio.
Tony is currently a Commissioner and Trustee of the Asian
Art Museum of San Francisco, where in the past he held
positions of Vice Chairman and member of the executive
committee. He is a past member of the board of the steering
committee for the California Research Center of the Harvard
Business School and a former board member of the National
Venture Capital Association. Tony is also a member of the
Corporation and Trustee of MIT, serving concurrently on
the investment committee and visiting committees of the
Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
and the Department of Material Science.
He is a key member of the Capital Campaign committee
of the Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve of Stanford University
and a member of the Stanford Associates. Since 1993, Tony
has been a Venture Capital Guest Advisor to the Stanford
Business School Entrepreneurial Course.
He is currently a member of the Naval Research Advisory
Committee for the U.S. Navy, and a member of the International
Resource Panel for the Government of Singapore.
